Skateistan began in Afghanistan and have now branched out into Cambodia and Pakistan, as such I thought it fitting to represent their progress through the use of the Pakistani flag morphed into a skateboard wheel. Which to me, as a skateboarder represents progress and advancement.
Skateistan is a non-government funded organisation which began in Kabul, Afghanistan as a youth outreach programme providing educational and skateboarding classes, using skating as a tool to empower young people aged 5-18.
Over 50% of the students are streetworking children and nearly 40% of the students are girls. Alongside the Kabul base, there is now established centres in both Cambodia and Pakistan, with a second centre to be completed in Afghanistan imminently, in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Despite the controversy surrounding this campaign, I still feel it’s an extremely relevant and important cause. Above all, I believe in the power of individuals rising up to create positive change. If not with this campaign, then I hope it inspires people to fight towards a cause they do believe in. I’ll always do what I can to perpetuate my support for this idea. The campaign might be corrupt, but the message isn’t. Please Reblog the image to show your support both for the campaign and for the idea that individuals can make a positive difference.
Stop at nothing,
